Lucknow Bhatkanti series - Part 4

Chhota Imambara, Kudiya Ghat & Teele Wali Masjid

Through the "Lucknow Bhatkanti" series, we have pravas to the historical tourist places of Lucknow city. After exploring the historical landmarks of Lucknow, like Bada Imambara, Rumi Darwaza, Clock Tower, Picture Gallery, and Satkhanda, I also visited other historical places around the Imambara complex. This blog is about that wondering.

Chhota Imambara or Hussainabad Imambara

After visiting Satkhanda, I proceeded to see the best structure built by Nawab Mohammad Ali Shah. This place is one km away from the Bada Imambara. That is Chhota Imambara or Hussainabad Imambada. Like Bada Imambara, it also has a big entrance just aside from the main road.

After entering through the entrance, many structures in the Chhota Imambada area catch your attention.

I first went to see the Shahi Hammam. Hammam means a bathing place.

There is a small pond in the center of the Imambada premises, while other premises are decorated with flowering plants. Which makes this place even more attractive.

A small Masjid and a mausoleum (Makbara at Chhota Imambara), which is a replica of the Taj Mahal, are also here.

The main attraction here is the Imambara building with its golden dome and beautiful calligraphy on the exterior.

Like the Bada Imambada, this building also has a throne, expensive chandeliers, tazias, candle stands, and mirrors. There is also the tomb of Nawab Mohammad Ali Shah and his mother.

Kudiya Ghat

I had some breakfast and then came to the Kudiya Ghat area on the banks of the river Gomti. After visiting crowded places all day, here I got the peace and the mind-pleasing view I wanted. It's a great place to spend an evening.

Teele Wali Masjid

Again, I came to the Bada Imambada area and from there went to the nearby Teele Wali Masjid.

Gautam Buddha Park

I also visited Gautam Buddha Park before the return journey. This is a great place to spend time with your little ones.

Ending the day's wandering here, I started my way back.
